Funds supporting our Ag in the Classroom and Scholarship Programs

Our Ways and Means Committee works hard to put on events to raise money for our Ag in the Classroom and Scholarship programs. Recently we have been coming up with new ideas to support our cause while also engaging and teaching the public about our history and the beef industry.

The CoweBelles Trail Ride

June 20th, 2020

We put on our first ride in over a decade this past year in 2019 and it was a hit! We had so much fun getting to know local and distant riders and we enjoyed the summer sunshine and beautiful historic ranches. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we had to cancel this 2020 event this year. We hope to see you all next year on the 2021 ride! See the ranch history below if you would like to read up on the historic San Diego ranches this ride has taken place on.

Our very own, Kathy Fiegel wrote this ranch history for the Mesa Grande area. Many of our riders last year were curious about the rich history of this beautiful land. Enjoy Kathy's article below!

Here are a few testimonials we received after the 2019 ride:

The ride last Saturday was one of the best organized and well put together events I have ever been on.  Thank you for a beautiful time.  The CowBelle trail guides were the best, I didn't feel like we were being herded and forced to go at any pace, all the riders and their horses were well behaved(at least those that I saw) and the lunch and raffles (even though I didn't win anything) were the best. I truly believe in your fundraising and would love to see more education on agriculture in the classroom (as a former teacher and 4H'er) If you do this again, you can count on our group (just a bunch of friends who ride) to be there.  Also, if your group needs help with anything, please let us know how we can be of assistance.

Thank you again for a fun time —Janet

Here is one of the comments from one of the posts on our FaceBook page:

So much fun! I don’t usually do group rides but was so pleased to be able to ride and enjoy these beautiful ranch lands! It took a village to put on such a great event. Thank you for the opportunity. The food was fantastic and I won a great raffle prize! – Linda
